Jessica Connell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and International Coach Federation (ICF) Certified Executive Coach in Midtown, Manhattan who specializes in Anxiety, Perfectionism, including Generalized Anxiety, Panic Disorders, and Adjustment Disorders, Depression, Grief and Bereavement, Trauma, including PTSD related to receiving a cancer diagnosis or chronic illness, Career-Related Stress, Fertility Issue Support, LGBTQ+ Issues and Relationships Issues. Jessica is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and utilizes this technique in office to help clients release acute traumatic events and developmental traumas from their bodies. While she mainly sees clients for psychotherapy she is also a Certified Executive Coach and can help you with work related goals and desired achievements. She sees all genders across the adult lifespan. Some of Jessica’s clients are professionals and individuals who are looking for support in maintaining a work-life balance …and building confidence and self-esteem. Others are navigating a career change or promotion at work. They fear failure and need support in taking the next step.Couples Therapy using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Monogamous and Non-monogamous relationships is another main focus on Jessica’s work with clients. Jessica has had great success with couples using this approach. With EFT, she starts by identifying specific areas where a couple is having communication break downs, resulting in seemingly very similar disagreements over and over again. Couples are left feeling frustrated with either partner and at a loss as to how to express their feelings to one another in a way where their partner actually understands them. Typically, defensiveness arises in place of understanding. Jessica helps break down these defenses and empathize with each other’s side of the argument. This also helps couples understand their partner’s triggers that stem from their own development history and help interpret and provide insights as to how it causes a breakdown in their dynamic. Tools for moving forward are then created and utilized; bringing back a connected, healthy unit!Jessica utilizes Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples. She spends time with her clients exploring how their patterns or symptoms came to be and what steps they can take to feel better. She takes a collaborative and active approach by setting goals with her clients, asking them questions, and staying engaged throughout the session. She encourages her clients to dig deeper in an effort to understand themselves more.Jessica cares about her clients deeply and is truly invested in helping them achieve their personal and professional goals. She received her MSW from New York University, BA in Psychology from LIU and a Professional Coaching and Executive Coaching certification from World Coach Institute. Her office is located near Grand Central.
