He maintains many professional memberships. Among them are the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the American Academy of Forensic Science, the National Association of Medical Examiners, the American Medical Association, and the SC Medical Assoc. In addition, Dr. Sexton and the Medical Technologists from the NCMH lab inspect other hospital labs for CAP.
Dr. Sexton and his wife Lu Lynn have four adult children: Sibyl Lynn, Steven, Lucinda and Louise. Aside from his medical interests, he enjoys fishing, hunting, rifle and pistol shooting, pistol coaching, and officiating at international pistol competitions.
