John M. Doemeny was born and raised in San Diego. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego where he graduated summa cum laude, and was also Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Doemeny is a Board certified diagnostic radiologist and is fellowship-trained in angiography and interventional radiology. In addition, he has subspecialty Certified Added Qualifications (CAQ) in angiography and interventional radiology.
Dr. Doemeny obtained his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and was admitted into the medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Doemeny completed his internship at Scripps Mercy Hospital, where he was honored as “Intern of the Year”. He then returned to UCSF and completed a diagnostic radiology residency. His fellowship training in angiopathy/interventional radiology was obtained at the University of Pennsylvania.
In 1987, Dr. Doemeny joined Radiology Medical Group and the medical staff of Scripps Mercy …Hospital as a fellowship-trained interventional radiologist, and helped to build one of San Diegos finest interventional radiology practices. Dr. Doemeny has expertise in all types of diagnostic cardiovascular and interventional vascular radiologic procedures. He has particular interest in peripheral and carotid arterial angioplasty/stenting, embolization therapy (including uterine artery embolization), venous access (portacath, Groshong), dialysis access procedures, percutaneous gastrostomy, biliary and renal stone removal and stenting, stereotaxic breast biopsy, percutaneous needle biopsy, male infertility (varicocoele embolization) and female infertility (fallopian tuboplasty).
Dr. Doemeny is the author of several scientific papers and book chapters. While at UCSF, Dr. Doemeny was one of the first investigators of paramagnetic materials, which are ud=sed today as contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging. He enjoys teaching and lecturing, and has conducted numerous invited courses, lectures and workshops on a variety of topics in diagnostic and interventional radiology. He sits on several committees within Scripps Health, which deal with the delivery of advanced endovascular procedures such as angioplasty, stenting and percutaneous aortic stent grafting.
