Dr. Joseph Lamelas is a Board Certified Cardiac and Thoracic surgeon, and is also certified in Surgical Critical Care. A leading authority in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Dr. Lamelas has performed more than 8,000 open-heart procedures in his career. His success extends from his ability to provide his patients with every surgical technique and option available in the field of Cardiac Surgery.
He has pioneered techniques in minimally invasive valve surgery that has caught the eye of surgeons and patients from around the globe. He is involved in training surgeons in advanced and innovative surgical techniques across the United States and abroad. Additionally, he has participated in international operative surgical symposia, and has also lectured nationally and internationally.
Dr. Lamelas completed his General Surgery Residency at the Brooklyn Hospital Center, Brooklyn, New York; and his Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery residency at the State University of New York Health …Science Center, Brooklyn, New York. He has published numerous articles and presented extensively on cardiac surgery. He has consistently had one of the lowest morbidities and mortalities in the state of Florida as well as the United States.
