Dr. Frakes received her medical degree from the University of Calgary in 1991. She served her residency specializing in Internal Medicine at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She then completed fellowship training in Medical Oncology and Hematology at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California, with a year of specialization in bone marrow transplantation. She is also actively involved in clinical trials through UCLA, Scripps Cancer Center and UCSD.
