Dr. Attas is board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and oncology, as well as in hospice and palliative medicine. He has been a practicing hematologist oncologist for 30 years. Through Englewood Hospital, he has taught at both Touro Medical College and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His duties at the Cancer Center include overseeing the medical thoracic oncology and lung multidisciplinary teams. Dr. Attas was the medical director of Englewood Hospital’s hospice program for 15 years.Dr. Attas attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he completed his honors thesis on immunology in 1978. He received his MD from Mount Sinai in 1982 and did his residency in internal medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, followed by fellowship training in hematology oncology at North Shore University Hospital/Cornell. In 1988, Dr. Attas joined the practice of Forte and Schleider, now the Hematology Oncology Physicians of Englewood (HOPE) practice of the Englewood Health …Physician Network.Active in research, Dr. Attas is currently vice chair of Englewood Hospital’s IRB, a body consisting of doctors, nurses, and local citizens that approves clinical trials.A dedicated educator, Dr. Attas loves to teach young minds and usually has a medical student in tow.
