Her practice focuses on the evaluation and management of patients with glaucoma eye disease. Dr. Farrokh-Siar completed her residency at the University of Chicago Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science and served as Chief Resident in her final year of training. She completed her glaucoma fellowship at the University Eye Specialists under the guidance of Theodore Krupin, M.D., former President of the American Glaucoma Society. Following her fellowship, Dr. Farrokh-Siar joined the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine, as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology. Dr. Farrokh-Siar is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Glaucoma Society, Chicago Ophthalmological Society, and Chicago Glaucoma Society. She has also served as Program Director for the Chicago Ophthalmological Society annual meeting. Dr. Farrokh-Siar has …earned numerous awards during her training, including the prestigious Beem Fisher Award and Albert M. Potts Award. Her research has lead to the publication of multiple articles in leading peer reviewed ophthalmology journals. She has authored several book chapters in the field of glaucoma, including Surgical Techniques in Ophthalmology Series: Glaucoma Surgery. Dr. Farrokh-Siar is currently Principal Investigator in the multi-center National Study for SOLX Gold Shunt for Refractory Glaucoma. SOLX Gold Shunt is a novel, minimally invasive device that has the potential to advance the surgical treatment of glaucoma. The biocompatible, pure gold implant uses the eyes natural pressure differential to reduce intraocular pressure. Dr. Farrokh-Siar is fluent in German and Persian.
