I chose to be a doctor because I wanted to help people. I enjoy seeing a variety of patients ranging from children to the elderly and helping them find a solution to restore them to health and happiness. I was an AO trauma fellow at the university at Tampa. I’m board certified and I passed the test for the certificate of additional qualifications in hand surgery. Not many hand surgeons have it, and it’s a unique service we provide in Utah Valley.
My medical philosophy is that I take care of my patients as if they were my family. Because of this, I believe patient communication is the most important thing in a patient visit. I could be the most capable doctor in the world, but if the patient doesn’t understand their diagnosis or treatment, then my expertise is useless. I work to establish trust and educate patients on their health so they can be an equal partner in their care.
I help teach the family practice residents at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, and I spend quite a …bit of time with sports medicine fellows here in my office. I am involved in many community organizations including Community Health Connect, a community service provider that connects low-income patients with specialists who provide free medical care, UVU and BYU’s pre-med clubs and Orem High School as the team physician. I am also on the international relations committee at the American Society for Surgery of the Hand where I try to help international doctors become more aware of hand surgery and improved treatments.
I’m married with 4 children. I’m currently a scoutmaster and love serving the youth in my community. I love sports, especially baseball. I fell in love with the Cardinals while training in Missouri and still follow them. I like to spend time in the batting cages when I get some free time.
