Mautez Bethel is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) working to use her experience to help address challenges faced. Mautez’s specializations include trauma, depression, grief and loss, anxiety, life transitions, emotion management, coping skills, and self regulation. Mautez completed her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science at Pennsylvania State University and her Master of Arts (MA) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Marymount University. Mautez has been able to use all of her experiences to help create a safe and relatable space in the therapy room. She uses various interventions to help navigate therapy with clients, but her approach remains grounded in reality/choice therapy and focusing on the choices we make. Mautez doesn’t believe in right or wrong decisions. Every choice we make produces reaction; we just have to be accepting of what comes with that. Mautez’s goal with clients is to be as open as she can with no judgment. She is simply here to figure …out the best path to go and how to get there. Mautez’s vision for us, as women of color, is to talk about what happens behind the smile and share proudly. Why? Because that is how healing can begin. We need to talk about the depression that happens or the anxiety that spills over. We need to talk about the burnout we experience. We need to speak freely and safely. Mautez’s hope is that it can be done together!
