Mendel Goldfinger, MD, is Clinical Program Director, Hematologic Malignancies at Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center and Assistant Professor, Medical Oncology and Medicine at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical focus centers around treating people with hematologic malignancies such as acute leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and bone marrow diseases. He has a special interest in chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy, stem cell transplantation and the use of antibodies to fight cancer. Dr. Goldfinger is a strong believer in individualizing treatment plans unique to each patient based on understanding the patient as a whole and the specifics of their disease. He is committed to each patient’s care and works hard to ensure that every single patient has the most positive clinical outcome.After obtaining his Bachelor of Science from Touro College in 2007, Dr. Goldfinger earned his Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2011. …He then completed his residency in internal medicine at Montefiore Einstien in 2014, followed by a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Rutgers University in 2017.Dr. Goldfinger is a clinical investigator with a research focus in developing novel therapies for patients with blood cancers. His clinical trial portfolio includes novel cellular therapies and precision approaches to optimally dose therapies for leukemia and Myelodysplastic syndrome, while preserving side effects. His work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals.Dr. Goldfinger is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Hematology, Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and the American College of Physicians (ACP). Dr. Goldfinger is passionate about giving every patient access to world-class heme malignancy care. As director of the Montefiore Hematologic-Malignancy Network, he has worked with the heme malignancy team to develop a Co-Management Model, where they collaborate with community medical oncologists to enable patients who live far from the Bronx access to novel therapies only available at an NCI designated Cancer Center.
