Dr. Michael Scott Beckenstein, MD

Dr. Beckenstein is a board certified and fully credentialed plastic surgeon who completed fellowships and residencies around the country. He has extensive experience in reconstructive and plastic surgery in Birmingham. Dr. Beckenstein was born and raised in New York. He earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Union College in Schenectady, New York. In 1987, he received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk Virginia. He was elected into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
He completed his internship and general surgical training in 1992 at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey, where he was awarded the Herbert Schulte Award for clinical excellence.
Before entering private practice, Dr. Beckenstein completed a plastic surgery residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He continued at the University for a 6-month research fellowship.
