Orthopedic surgery is an unbelievably satisfying career. The patients my team takes care of are singularly focused on getting better. Through a variety of treatments, which can include medications, injections, physical therapy or surgery, every patient has an excellent chance of recovery. It’s incredibly rewarding to see patients getting better because of an action plan I’ve initiated.
As an orthopedic surgeon for St. Luke’s University Health Network, I treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, but specialize in joint replacement and trauma. Of all of the patients I have cared for, one small boy stands out in my memory. He and his family were immigrants who had only a rudimentary understanding of English. Through an interpreter, I explained that the boy, who was about 7, had broken both of the bones in his forearm and needed surgery to recover. The family reluctantly agreed, and the surgery was a success
When the boy, who could barely speak English, came back …into my office, he looked me in the eye and said, “Thank you for fixing me.” It was really awe-inspiring, a heart-warming experience.”
I graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Health Sciences University and completed an internship at SUNY at Stony Brook. I completed my residency at St. Vincent Catholic Medical Center in Brooklyn and Queens, New York.
After completing an orthopedic fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 2000, I joined St. Luke’s and my wife Anne Marie and I settled in Saucon Valley, where we raised four children. It turned out to be a great decision. During the past 21 years, I have become invested in the community. I have enjoyed treating generations of family members.
During my personal time, I enjoy playing golf and attending Iron Pigs games and live music events with my wife Ann Marie.
