Dr. Myers is a native of Illinois and a summa cum laude graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University. He received a doctoral degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Illinois in Urbana followed by three years of postdoctoral training. He subsequently received his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. His internship, residency, and cardiology fellowship were served at the University of Iowa, followed by a faculty position for six years at the University of Missouri where he also was the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the Columbia VA Medical Center. Subsequently, Dr. Myers was an Associate Professor of Medicine and an active interventional cardiologist on the faculty of Vanderbilt University Medical Center for six years. While at Vanderbilt University, he launched the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Training Program and also directed the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory …at the Nashville VA Medical Center. Dr. Myers is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Interventional Cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a Fellow of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions, and a Fellow of the American Physiological Society. The teaching skills of Dr. Myers were recognized and honored with the Fellows Teaching Award in Cardiology for two consecutive years at Vanderbilt. The Interventional Training Fellowship, under his direction, was one of the first institutions to be granted ACGME accreditation. Dr. Myers was actively involved in research while at Vanderbilt with a laboratory funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health and the Veterans Administration, as well as private industry.
