Dr. Zafirides is President of Central Ohio Behavioral Medicine, Inc. (COBMI). Established in 1997, COBMI is a premier behavioral healthcare practice composed of a multidisciplinary group of MD, NP, RN, PhD, LISW, and LPCC clinicians. Additionally, Dr. Zafirides is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Ohio State University%u2019s Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Zafirides regularly teaches first and second year medical students at OSU%u2019s College of Medicine in his auxiliary faculty role. He is also a regular guest lecturer of psychopharmacology to graduate students enrolled in the Counselor Education program at OSU as well. Dr. Zafirides is also Staff Psychiatrist at Southeast, Inc., one of the largest community mental health centers In Columbus, Ohio. Since 1997, Dr. Zafirides has been the staff physician for the Homeless Team at Southeast. His area of interest within psychiatry is the mind-body role of emotions in physical illness – specifically chronic pain. He has been …published in this area of psychiatry, lecturing both nationally and internationally on this topic. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the Psychophysiologic Disorders Association (PPDA). Dr. Zafirides founded The Healthy Mind Network in November 2011 (https://www.thehealthymind.com) Dr. Zafirides is an experienced public speaker. Since 1997, he has given over 1,000 lectures to both professional and public audiences on many aspects of human behavior including: emotional illness, psychopharmacology, the mind-body role of emotions in physical illness, human motivation and the psychology of influence. He is also the host of %u201CThe Healthy Mind%u201D weekly online radio broadcast. Dr. Zafirides has received Best Doctors In America recognition for 7 consecutive years since 2005.
