Dr. Holmes completed his undergraduate degree at Kenyon College, his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas, and his residency and fellowship at the University of Michigan Hospital. He joined the group in 1996. He is also a clinical instructor in Gastroenterology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a fellow in the American Gastroenterological Association and a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, the Forsyth-Stokes-Davie Medical Society, the North Carolina Medical Society and the North Carolina Society of Gastroenterology.
His hospital affiliations include Forsyth Medical Center where he acts as co-chairman of the …Novant Corporate Pharmacy & Therapeutic Committee and is Director of Nutritional Support. He also serves on the medical advisory board at PMG Research and is on the medical staff at Yadkin Valley Community Hospital.
His areas of interest include general gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), clinical research, nutrition and hepatobiliary diseases.
