Dr. Katz received his bachelors degree from the University of Pennsylvania, double-majoring in Economics and in the Biological Basis of Behavior. He went on to earn his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine, where he was named Outstanding Student in Surgery at Memorial Medical Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Ga. He completed his residency in general surgery at Atlanta Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident in 2010-2011, and practiced with Athens Surgical Group from 2011-2013 before joining Athens General & Colorectal Surgeons. Dr. Katz is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
