Stan Pelofsky, M.D. completed undergraduate studies at Long Island University, Brooklyn, New York in 1962. A Doctorate of Medicine degree was received in 1966 from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Dr. Pelofsky completed an internship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 1967. As a member of the United States Navy from 1967 to 1969, he served at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, California and in naval support activity, Da Nang, Vietnam. A neurological surgery residency followed at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center from 1969 to 1973.
Board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, Dr. Pelofsky has served as Assistant Professor, Division of Neurosurgery, at Oklahoma Memorial Hospital, Veterans Hospital and Oklahoma Children’s Hospital. Dr. Pelofsky specializes in herniated discs, cervical and lumbar surgery, carpal tunnel syndrome, surgery of the skull base, pituitary and intracranial tumors.
Dr. Pelofsky has received …recognition for his involvement and contributions to the medical community. He was appointed to the State of Oklahoma Advisory Council of Traumatic Spinal Cord and Traumatic Brain Injury and the Advisory Board for Spinal Cord and Head Injuries. He is widely published in numerous professional journals.
Dr. Pelofsky established practice with Neuroscience Specialists in 1973. He holds memberships in the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, serving as its President 2001-2002, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Oklahoma State Medical Association, the Oklahoma Neurological Society, the Oklahoma City Surgical Society, the American College of Surgeons, the Royal Society of Medicine, London, England, and the North American Spine Society.
