Dr. Tom Geppert joined Rheumatology Associates in 1998. Prior to private practice he was an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School for 15 years doing clinical and basic science research as well as teaching doctors/students and treating patients.
Dr. Geppert received his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine in 1980 and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha as a junior. At Wisconsin he received the William Bleckmenn Award for Clinical Promise. He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Washington Affiliated Hospitals, Seattle, Washington. He completed a Fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, Texas. Dr. Geppert is Board Certified in Internal Medicine with a sub-specialty certification in Rheumatology.
Dr. Geppert has been a principal investigator at Metroplex Clinical …Research Center for several clinical trials developing new therapies for lupus and scleroderma. He has also participated in numerous trials that have been instrumental in developing new therapies for arthritis.
Dr. Geppert is associated with many professional organizations including: Arthritis Foundation, American Rheumatism Association, Lupus Foundation of America, and the American Federation of Clinical Research. Dr. Geppert has been voted one of the “Best Doctors in Dallas” as well as “Texas Super Doctors”.
As an Associate Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, he was awarded grants from the Arthritis Foundation, Lupus Foundation, and American Cancer Foundation for his work in cellular immunology in the immune system. He wrote six chapters in Internal Medicine/Immunology textbooks and published over 40 articles in leading scientific journals.
