Dr. Todd Cox is an honors graduate of Georgetown University and The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He remained at Johns Hopkins for his residency training in psychiatry and served as the department’s chief resident. In 1999, Dr. Cox was appointed to the Hopkins faculty, developed additional expertise in mood disorders through the Schweizer Fellowship, and treated adolescents and adults with multiple psychiatric issues, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders, chronic pain, and comorbid medical issues.
In 2001, Dr. Cox joined the Georgetown University faculty, serving as Medical Director of Georgetown’s Psychiatric Inpatient and Partial Hospitalization Services as well as director of its Psycho-Oncology Program. At this time, Dr. Cox cares for patients in his private practice located in downtown Washington, DC. Additionally, he has served as the consulting psychiatrist for St. Mary’s College of Maryland as well as The Sidwell Friends …School and has working relationships with many of the other local colleges, universities, and high schools in the Baltimore-Washington area. He continues to serve on the faculties of both Johns Hopkins and Georgetown, and he is an active teacher and mentor of medical students, residents, and fellows at both institutions. With colleagues from Hopkins, he is working to develop a school-based education program on adolescent depression. He has also served as a psychiatrist in Student Mental Health on The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions campus. Dr. Cox is board certified through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, has been elected to the prestigious American College of Psychiatrists, and has served on the Ethics Committee of the Washington Psychiatric Society. Recently he was identified again by Washingtonian magazine and Checkbook as a “Top Doctor” and honored by the Consumers Research Council of America as one of “America’s Top Psychiatrists.
