Dr. William Newman’s clinical expertise is in forensic psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry and triage psychiatry. He is medical director of the Adult Inpatient Psychiatry Unit at Saint Louis University Hospital. Dr. Newman also conducts civil and criminal forensic assessments for a variety of legal issues.
Dr. Newman is an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry,Division of Forensic Psychiatry, at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
Dr. Newman serves on the executive councilfor the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law (AAPL). He is associate editor ofCurrent Psychiatryand was section editor of the “Aggression and Violence”sectionof Principles and Practice of Forensic Psychiatry, third edition.Hisresearch interests include: assessment and management of aggression, assessment of malingering, fitness for duty evaluations, workplace violence, and mass murder.
