Many, but not all, mental disorders are primarily attributable to biological forces, just like other medical illnesses. While biological explanations should absolve psychiatric patients of self-blame, this does not absolve them from taking responsibility for their behaviors and actions. Don’t neglect yourself. Get treatment. With a proper understanding of the nature of the problem, I can help you to feel more optimistic about your ability to get better and function well.
I have received the benefit of …education and training, having completed 4 years of medical school and a year of internship which included 3 months in the emergency room, 3 months in pediatrics, 3 months in neurology, and 3 months in internal medicine. After my internship, I completed a 3-year residency in psychiatry. Seven years later, I went back and completed a 2-year fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry. I have two board certifications, one in General Psychiatry and another in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
