Dr. Gross grew up in Queens, New York, and then attended Brandeis University where he received a BA degree in Biology. He received his MD degree from New York Medical College and then completed Internship and Residency programs in Internal Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn. He next completed a Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Medical Center in N.Y.C. He is ABIM Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine.
Dr. Gross was in private practice in New Bedford, Mass. for 2 years and then moved to Poughkeepsie and joined HealthShield in 1986. He remained with HealthShield/ CHP/Kaiser Permanente until it closed in December 1999. However, in 1995 Dr. Gross began to specialize in the care of hospitalized patients as a Hospitalist, which was a new medical specialty at that time.
As a partner in New Century Medical Associates, Dr. Gross continues his role as Hospitalist as well as continuing to practice Primary Care Internal Medicine …and Pulmonary Medicine as both primary physician and as consultant.
Dr. Gross holds the positions of Chair of the Pulmonary Division and Medical Director of the Respiratory Therapy Department at St. Francis Hospital. He is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Gross is married to Dr. Lorraine Nardi. They have 1 child, Beth Anne. In his spare time Dr. Gross enjoys hiking, photography, and playing the cello with a local string quartet.
