Dr. Anthony D’Ambrosio focuses his clinical practice on trigeminal neuralgia (facial pain) and hemifacial spasm. He has expertise in a variety of complex surgical and radiosurgical techniques intended to successfully treat complex diseases of the brain.
These techniques include micro-neurosurgery, microvascular decompression surgery (MVD) and Gamma Knife Radiosurgery (GKRS).
During the Covid-19 crisis, “Dr. D” has established a robust virtual telemedicine consultation process so that all of his patients, old and new, can “see” him faster and safer than ever before!
Dr. D’Ambrosio received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he graduated with honors as a member of Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honor Society and Golden Key National Honor Society.
Training and Education
He was then awarded his doctorate from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine where he also graduated with honors. At Vanderbilt, Dr. D’Ambrosio is a member of Alpha …Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honors Society.
Dr. D’Ambrosio then began his career at Columbia University, serving as an intern with the Department of Surgery. He was then a Rosenak/Cohen Research Fellowship with the Cerebrovascular Laboratory at Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University.
Dr. D’Ambrosio then served as the resident physician and then chief resident with the Department of Neurological Surgery. He completed his education at Tampa General Hospital as a Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Fellow.
Leadership and Board Certification
Dr. D’Ambrosio is currently active as the Director of Neurosurgery and Co-Director of the Gamma Knife Center at The Valley Hospital. In addition to his work at The Neurosurgeons of New Jersey, Dr. D’Ambrosio is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons. He has authored over 25 peer-reviewed journals and six book chapters.
Societies and Organizations
Dr. D’Ambrosio is an active member of many national and international organizations including the Facial Pain Association, the Acoustic Neuroma Association, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
