Dr. Cathy Anne Burnweit, MD

Dr. Cathy Burnweit has been a pediatric surgeon at Miami Children’s Hospital since 1990. After graduating from Dartmouth College, Dr. Burnweit received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School, where she graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Burnweit interned at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and completed her residency training at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. She received her fellowship training at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and is certified by the American Board of Surgery in general and pediatric surgery. Dr. Burnweit is a member of multiple professional medical organizations, has published numerous articles, and has made presentations around the world on pediatric surgery and pediatric trauma. She has special interests in childhood cancer, pectus excavatum, laparoscopy and thoracoscopy, and neonatal surgery.
