Dr. George Washington Tipton, MD

Dr. Tipton is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who has been practicing medicine in Austin since 1983. Dr. Tipton received his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from the University of Texas in Austin and his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. While in Galveston, he completed his internship and residency. Then, under Henry S. LaRocca, he received his fellowship training in orthopedic spine surgery in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Tipton has a proven track record of leadership, including his former positions as president of the Texas Spine Society and Chief of Orthopedic Surgery for Seton Medical Center Austin. He is a co-founder of the Spine and Rehabilitation Center where he currently serves as Medical Director. Through highly effective collaboration and communication, Dr. Tipton develops a protocol that matches his patient with the least invasive plan of care. He specializes in the treatment of adult degenerative lumbar spine …disorders that result in lower back pain. Dr. Tipton is a member of the North America Spine Society, the Travis County Medical Society, the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the G.W.N. Eggers Society, the Journal Club, the Texas Spine Society, the St Luke’s Society, and he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
