Jartu Nylander, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, who is interested in providing quality, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health services to adults.Growing up in a place where mental health was rarely discussed and often left untreated, made me understand the need to de-stigmatize, educate and treat mental health. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I spent more than a decade working as a registered nurse in Maryland and Delaware. I began in the medical-surgical unit working well with a diverse patient population. This is where I developed a robust clinical judgment. I’ve worked in many practice areas, including psychiatry, cardiac, and neurological/stroke unit. My clinical skills are enhanced by my natural ability to build rapport with patients and families. My psychiatric experiences include managing depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, attention deficit disorder, anger, stress, and insomnia. I’m dedicated to helping clients struggling …with depression, anxiety, psychosis, work-related stress, as well as clients struggling with adjustment disorders (to either their medical diagnoses or grief and death).I strive to exemplify the dynamic to follow evidence-based guidelines blended with clinical experience, personal observation, and intuition.Professional Statement:I, Jartu Nylander, am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. As a firm believer of doing unto others as you want them to do unto you. I take an empathetic approach treating my patients as I want my family to be treated by any health care provider. It is my goal to transcend a standard of care in mental health that includes respect, kindness, and evidence-based treatment. All of this while the patient is seeking the solace and guidance they deserve. I often say that “sometimes I inspire my patients, but most of the time they inspire me and teach me.” I enjoy spending time with my family, going to church, reading my bible, shopping, watching a good movie and in bet good movie going for walks when time permits.
