Dr. Hardin was appointed Medical Director of the Children’s Heart Center in 2005. He has authored several journal articles and book chapters in the field of pediatric cardiology, and he has ongoing research interests involving pediatric cardiac intensive care, cardiovascular pharmacology and heart failure management. He is a member of numerous professional societies including the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, American Academy of Pediatrics, Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. In 2008 he was elected to Fellow status within the American Heart Association and it%u2019s Council on Cardiovascular Disease in the Young, and he serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the American Heart Association Northern New Jersey Region – Heritage Affiliate. He also serves on the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services Cardiovascular Health Advisory Panel (CHAP) as that panel%u2019s only …pediatric cardiology representative. In New Jersey, Dr. Hardin has helped to deploy screening programs designed to identify young athletes who might be at risk for sudden cardiac death. He is a consultant pediatric cardiologist for hospitals across central and northern New Jersey, and he volunteers service as Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School (Newark, NJ). He also serves as Medical Counsel and volunteer cardiologist for the Rotary Club International Gift of Life program, a charitable medical program providing cardiovascular surgery to children from countries where this sort of sophisticated and expensive medical care is not locally available. Dr. Hardin completed military service to the United States in 2006, having attained a final rank of Commander in the Navy Reserve Medical Corps. His final active duty assignment was in 2004 in support of the 1st Marine Division then forward deployed to Al Anbar, Iraq.
