Graduated cum laude from Duke University and completed his medical training at New York University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and orthopaedic residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Hersch received advanced fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
There he served as assistant team physician for the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Cleveland State University and provided medical coverage for the 2000 State Farm United States Figure Skating Championship.
Dr.Hersch specializes in Sports Medicine, and arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, knee, ankle and elbow including arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, shoulder stabilization, and arthroscopic ACL reconstruction. Dr. Hersch also has a special interest in treating arthritic conditions of the shoulder and knee and performs shoulder replacements. In addition, Dr. Hersch specializes in cartilage …transplants.
Dr. Hersch currently serves as head team physician for St. Andrew’s School in Boca Raton . He is a member of the ATP medical committee and serves as the Medical Director of the Delray Open.
Dr. Hersch is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Hersch is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and has authored many articles on shoulder arthroplasty. Dr. Hersch has presented scientific papers at national orthopaedic meetings and has been an instructor at orthopaedic surgery courses.
In his spare time he is an avid tennis player, golfer and cyclist.
