Dr. Taormina established Midwest Gastroenterology in 1998, and he has been in private practice in gastroenterology and hepatology since 1982. Dr. Taormina is a Kansas City native. He graduated from the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine in 1976 and went on to complete his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Hawaii in 1980. Dr. Taorminas postgraduate training in Gastroenterology / Hepatology was completed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., in 1982. He has been in private practice in the Kansas City area since 1985. Dr. Taormina is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (voluntarily recertified in 2008) in the specialties of Gastroenterology and Geriatric Medicine. He has attained Fellowship status in the American College of Gastroenterology, American College of Physicians, American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He has been recognized as one of …Americas Top Gastroenterologists by the Consumer Health Research Council and the Midwest Health Foundation. He is a Vice Councilor of the Missouri State Medical Association. He serves on the staff of the Midwest Physicians Surgery Center, Centerpoint Medical Center, Centerpoint Ambulatory Surgical Center, St. Lukes Northland Hospital and Liberty Hospital. He volunteers for Metrocareof Kansas City (providing specialty medical services to the needy) .Dr. Taormina is a member of the AGA Legacy Society, supporting research and funding for investigators in gastroenterological research. Being a doctor is a privilege that I dont take lightly. I try to make my patients feel at ease when they come to see me, since many are quite anxious about the visit or the procedure. Even our offices designed to make our patients feel more relaxed by providing cutting-edge technology and expertise in a comfortable, residential setting.
