Robert D. Graham, MD, is a fellowship trained board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Orthopedic Associates of Central Texas. He has been in practice since 2003 and specializes in shoulder surgery. Dr. Graham has expertise in total shoulder replacement, reverse total shoulder replacement, revision shoulder replacement, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, labral repair, fracture care, and treatment of shoulder instability and dislocation. He practices out of our North Austin location.
Dr. Graham graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering before earning his medical degree at Duke University in North Carolina. He also completed his orthopedic residency at Duke and subsequently completed his fellowship training at Taos Orthopedic Institute in Taos, NM.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Graham is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the new Dell Medical School orthopedic residency program at …the University of Texas at Austin. He also served for the last 8 years as associate faculty for complex shoulder reconstruction at Taos Orthopaedic Institute. With his new position at the University of Texas, Dr. Graham is now in Austin full time.
Furthering his academic interests, Dr. Graham is active in clinical and academic research. In addition, Dr. Graham was a designing surgeon for a new reversed total shoulder system which offers improved options for patients needing complex reconstruction. With these interests in mind, Dr. Graham and Dr. Szerlip founded Austin Shoulder Institute, which is an affiliate division of Orthopedic Associates of Central Texas. The Institute is dedicated to their academic and research pursuits within their specialties of shoulder surgery.
