A Rhode Island native, Dr. Meyer graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hamilton College. He was then selected for a prestigious complex and minimally invasive spine surgery fellowship at the University of California at San Francisco.
In New Jersey Dr. Meyer has served as Chairman and a member of the Spine Technology Committee at Atlantic Health System. He is the President of the New Jersey Neurosurgical Society, and also a member of the Executive Board for the New Jersey Spine Society. Nationally, Dr. Meyer is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) and the Joint Sections of Spine and Peripheral Nerve of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons/Congress of Neurological Surgeons (DSPN) where he serves as a member of its Scientific Program Committee. He lectures regularly at national meetings and is a leader in the promotion of quality and outcomes-driven spine surgery. He is a member of the Washington Committee and is a member of the Coding and Reimbursement Committee for the AANS/CNS.

He has served as Scientific Program Chair and Annual Meeting Chair for the Spine Summit, an annual meeting of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Dr. Meyer was recently chosen to be the sole spine surgeon in the state of NJ to participate in a FDA trial for a new motion preservation device for lumbar spondylolisthesis.
