Dr. Barnes is a native of Macon, Georgia. He received a B.A. in Biology, graduating Cum Laude, at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and his Medical Degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Barnes completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at the Vanderbilt University Hospital. He completed his fellowship in Infectious Disease at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
Dr. Barnes is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Barnes joined Southview Medical Group, P.C. (formerly Lakeview Internal Medicine, P.C.) in 1989.
Dr. Barnes has a special interest in Travel Medicine and has established a Travel Clinic at Southview Medical.
