I served as a family physician in a rural setting for 23 years before joining The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. At Ohio State, I practice family medicine and teach medical students, residents and fellows. As a family physician, my role is to assess patients and provide information to patients and their family members. Together, we create a plan for care. Elder issues are particularly interesting and gratifying to me. That?s because I share in the challenges and family dynamics with this vulnerable population. I especially enjoy working with geriatric patients at a nursing home and other long-term care settings. I find the most satisfaction during my day when a patient or family member reports that we have successfully improved their situation or decreased their stress.
