Dr. Gottlieb is credited with the first description of AIDS as a new disease in 1981. He graduated from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, trained in internal medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, and completed a fellowship in Immunology/Rheumatology at Stanford University Medical Center. He is board certified in internal medicine and allergy and clinical immunology.
