Kevin Gill, M.D., offers extensive clinical experience that focuses on diagnosing and treating cervical and lumbar spine conditions and injuries. His expertise includes minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal fusions, and disc arthroplasty. He is Professor and Vice Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center and serves as Medical Director of the UT Southwestern Orthopaedic Spine Clinic, as well as Residency Program Director for the five-year orthopaedic resident training program. Dr. Gill participates in multiple clinical trials that investigate motion preservation implants and surgical techniques. His latest clinical trial is the “Triumph”-Globus Medical-posterior disc replacement system. In 2008, his research group received the Kappa Delta Orthopaedic Research Award for clinical science work studying degenerative disc disease in identical twins. Additional research interests include the Coflex Interspinous process spacer-IDE with Paradigm Spine, Prodisc …Cervical-IDE, and continued access study with Synthes Spine, and TOPS-Total Posterior Spinal Implant-IDE. Dr. Gill is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and American Board of Spine Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He also holds memberships in the American Orthopaedic Association, North American Spine Society, Cervical Spine Research Society, International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Gill is a member of the American College of Physician Executives and a Diplomat of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He serves as an Advisory Editor of the journal Spine and the Spine Journal. In 1991, 1994, and 1995, Dr. Gill and his research group won the Volvo and Camp Awards in Clinical Sciences for International Low Back Pain Research. After receiving his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Gill completed a general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at UT Southwestern. He obtained a postgraduate fellowship in spinal surgery from the University of Vermont and overseas at the London Hospital and Clinic. Dr. Gill received his bachelors degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He also has a Master of Medical Management degree from Tulane University. Before joining UT Southwestern, Dr. Gill served as Vice President, Medical Services, at UT Southwestern Medical Center/St. Paul University Hospital.
